In the late summer of 2001, my dad’s fantasy football league was in desperate need of another team before the season started. My dad had run out of options. What else was he to do other than ask his 9-year-old son and his buddy to co-run a team? It was nowhere near conventional at the time nor was it fully accepted by every owner in the league, but we joined anyway, because we had to if they wanted to have a league that season. A Jake Plummer/Rod Smith stack and Ahman Green later, those two 9-year-olds won the Fantasy Football Championship. Defeating my dad and all his football junkie buddies was the catalyst for my love and dedication to fantasy football. My name is Ryan and I’m a fantasy football junkie.
I have realized almost every time I have conversation with anyone I know, fantasy football is brought up. This doesn’t always start with me bringing it up. People are always asking for my opinions, for player stats, and my advice. With that in mind, I came to the realization that I want to help others take down their dads in fantasy football, win leagues, and just have a good time together by putting out some weekly content. It’s time to build a community where people can come get fantasy football advice, a good laugh, and a fantasy football championship along the way. Having that community and camaraderie is an integral aspect of fantasy football and I want to be a part of it with you from my couch. Hence, the Fantasy Couch Coach.
